Combined ozonation and solarization for the removal of pesticides from soil: Effects on soil microbial communities

چکیده
Pesticides have been used extensively in agriculture to control pests and soil-borne diseases. Most of these pesticides can persist soil harmful concentrations due their intrinsic characteristics interactions with soil. Soil solarization has demonstrated enhance pesticide degradation under field conditions. Recently, ozonation suggested as a feasible method for reducing the load agricultural fields. However, effects microbial community not studied so far. Here, we evaluate combined on Mediterranean For this purpose, physico-chemical enzyme activities biomass (through analysis fatty acids) diversity 16S rRNA ITS amplicon sequencing) communities were analyzed 50-day greenhouse experiment. The was increased by 20%, 28%, 33% solarized (S), surface (SOS), deep (SOD), respectively, comparison (untreated) Solarization its combination (SOS SOD) ammonium content well electrical conductivity, while negatively affected. Despite biocidal character ozone, several populations pesticide-degradation capacity showed increases relative abundance. Overall, plus ozone did exacerbate chemistry communities, but improve degradation.

Flooding effects on soil microbial communities
Flooding affects both aboveand below-ground ecosystem processes. While the below-ground changes may be less obvious, they are as important as the above-ground changes. Soil microorganisms are sensitive to disturbance, and shifts in soil microbial community structure are expected when anaerobic conditions develop from flooding. The primary objective of these studies was to determine the effect o...
متن کاملCombining effects of soil solarization and grafting on plant yield and soil-borne pathogens in cucumber
Combining effects of soil solarization and grafting on soilborne pathogens, plant height and yield in cucumber were compared in a greenhouse of Bati Akdeniz Agricultural Research Institute located in Antalya in 2008 fall season. The experiment was set in split plot design containing; 1, 2, 4 and 5 months soil solarization (MSS), and non-solarized control plots (NSC) on which grafted Maximus F1+...
متن کاملImpact of fumigants on soil microbial communities.
Agricultural soils are typically fumigated to provide effective control of nematodes, soilborne pathogens, and weeds in preparation for planting of high-value cash crops. The ability of soil microbial communities to recover after treatment with fumigants was examined using culture-dependent (Biolog) and culture-independent (phospholipid fatty acid [PLFA] analysis and denaturing gradient gel ele...
متن کاملEffects of glyphosate on soil microbial communities and its mineralization in a Mississippi soil.
Transgenic glyphosate-resistant (GR) soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] has enabled highly effective and economical weed control. The concomitant increased application of glyphosate could lead to shifts in the soil microbial community. The objective of these experiments was to evaluate the effects of glyphosate on soil microbial community structure, function and activity. Field assessments on soi...
متن کاملMicroarray-based functional gene analysis of soil microbial communities during ozonation and biodegradation of crude oil.
Ozonation with a subsequent biodegradation treatment was performed to remove recalcitrant organic compounds from long-term weathered crude oil contaminated soil. Samples were analyzed by GC/MS and column chromatography to monitor changes in crude oil composition. A functional gene array was used to examine microbial community dynamics. After a 6h ozonation treatment with a constant concentratio...
